Whenever I take
the time to walk around this property, I actually accomplish more than if I’d
stayed inside. There’s something so fresh and inspirational about the
meandering pathways here and the views are worth all the effort of getting up
the hill and onto the ridge. So today
I did a fast
straighten up of the inside and got dressed early. Domino, our youngest
kitty-cat, decided to join us and caught up when we got to the pathway,
although he doesn’t exactly cooperate when we walk together. He really likes
his tummy rubbed. Perhaps he has fantasies of being a puppy. I really don’t
know but I’ve never had a cat like him. Most of them hate being petted in
certain areas, unless one wishes to be missing a hand. His other annoying habit
is to constantly trip me by walking right in front of me almost on my feet.
Then, when I’m completely exasperated with him, he rolls over on his back and
puts his paws up in the air. What can I do? Nothing. I’m like putty in his
paws. I gush about how cute he is to John who by now is a hundred feet ahead of
me on ‘our’ walk. Eventually we reach an unexpected stand of white yarrow, and
many others that follow as we advance towards one of the gorgeous vistas of the
hills and dales and sky. The light is bright today and I wasn’t sure if any of
these photos would really capture how beautiful it was to be there on top of
the world looking out towards the northwest.
So we know how lucky we are to have walks like this in our yard. There are many places we go here that equal this walk. All are magnificent in different ways. And all of them make me want to kiss the ground that we walk on. But luckily I’m not that far gone.
