The Old Plum Tree

This lovely tree has seen better days. It's like my sister, who is fighting for her life. She too, withstood many storms and hardships. The tree has also and there’s a side branch that is only held up by a well- placed bit of wood for support.
This year she has faltered and so has the tree. Hope seems to be dwindling now but there is one last card to play to buy her time and renew her strength to get through this. But I am very far away, thousands of miles away and no one is listening to me. They are just keeping her comfortable but not trying to stop what’s happening. They have given up and believe the doctors that it’s just a matter of time. So rather than writing blog stories of our exploits here on the land at this rural retreat, I’ve been writing my relatives to beg them to reconsider since there will be no hope through inaction.
In contrast to my sister’s plight, the plum tree has one branch of lovely fruit and a few more years of some harvests, albeit negligible ones. And soon John will pick the fruit that has that such luscious red flesh so the birds don’t get this bounty.
My sister needs all the help she can get now. Any prayers will be heartfelt by yours truly. She has been a force of nature all her life, like a tree really. She’s fought many battles and prevailed every time until now. But I know from my research many others with the same condition have been saved from their impending demise by tweaking a few things, adding others that really work and turning the whole shebang around back to perfect health.
It's worth a try because she’s worth the effort. Some people get a bad verdict from their specialists and go home to die. And they do. Others fight tooth and nail to stay alive and they do.
I know that we all love her dearly and want the best outcome, but some of us are willing to try various alternative therapies and some are not
