Weeds and Other Miscellany

I’ve never been particularly bothered by weeds. I’m much more inclined to be bothered by gardeners who insist on spraying pesticides on them to tidy up God’s canvas. Well, guess what? It really doesn’t need it.
I’ve been under the weather lately and haven’t helped my own garden at all when I noticed that spring had sprung. It did it all by itself, so today being a rare sunny day, I ventured out in it. First, I swept a few pathways poorly. I only had limited energy. But on my journey over the bricks, I noticed some outstanding weeds that required my immediate pulling, as they were overshadowing the red rose bush that John gave me last year for my birthday. Now, with another birthday looming, I don’t anticipate another rose because this one should be blooming its heart out by then. I imagine that he’ll pick me one of the spectacular blooms that is the perfect shade of red and quite large.
He might have even thought of that when he bought me this, knowing that all I’ve ever wanted from him on my special day is to be remembered with a rose.
So, back to my garden visit, I am always so impressed when the garden fills out. Again, all on its own, every plant and tree bursts into billowing beauty. This year, I’ve certainly had nothing to do with it…but watch it get beaten and broken with the wind and the rain. The weather has been so rotten for 3 years now and it hasn’t been easy for the plants to even survive what’s been thrown their way frequently. We’ve had every kind of storm imaginable and very cold weather instead of much sunshine. Yet many of these special varieties just grow and thrive eventually. So, I guess we’ve reached eventually.
People think that they’re so special. But we love to be nurtured. I’m not sure if we could withstand what’s happened to the garden and come out smelling like a rose.
I’ve included a few shots of the landscape here to give you an idea of why I find this particular garden chaos so irresistible.
